WINGS stands for "Women  in  God’s  Scriptures"

The heart of this Christian ministry is to transform lives through God’s Word!

It is our heart’s desire and purpose with each retreat to join God in His work of ministry to women, whom He cares for and knows by name, so that they will be equipped to make His name famous in their daily lives. 

The WINGS Retreat vision began in August 2008 by four Christian women who became Heart Sisters through a common desire to study God’s Word together through Bible Studies at church.  Through our journey of studying God’s Word we also developed a passion to serve together in Women's Ministry, including retreat ministry for eight years.   Through many years of experiencing retreat ministry first hand, we saw how God used weekend retreats to strengthen and change women’s lives, including our own.  We each believed that God could use this venue like none other to minister to women while equipping them through God’s Word to live a life that surely honors Him.  "By prayer and petition, with thanksgiving", God moved us to embark upon this new, non-denominational Christian retreat ministry.  We are also a diverse group attendance in 2013 represented over 25 different churches. 

We chose the Ridgecrest Conference Center located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina for their unique retreat environment, accommodating facilities and common purpose. 

2014 will be our sixth Annual WINGS Retreat. We are so excited that God has continued to bless this ministry and allowed us to serve so many women over these past five years.  Since our beginnings, our team has grown to the perfect “seven” this year.   The ladies that are serving on 2014 WINGS Retreat team are Betty Womack, Darnell Bullins, Jamie Corriher, Kathy Geniec, Sue Turbyfill, Wanda Trexler and Wendy Linney.  Each member serves with all their heart, bringing their unique spiritual gifts which work together in one accord creating this special retreat ministry we have today. 

"God only works out of prayer", quoted from the famous T.W. Hunt, is one of many nuggets of wisdom that we learn from Kathy's example.  Her wisdom has made prayer the focus from the beginning of this ministry and continues to be our priority. 
We believe wholeheartedly, "with God all things are possible" Matthew 19:26, because nothing will make you more dependent on God than being responsible for ministry!  We humbly thank you for the privilege and opportunity to serve you in Jesus' name.

We are pleased to acknowledge Diane Russell and Katie Koeslin who have contributed with the set-up, clean-up, sound board and many, many ways during each retreat.  Their passion to serve is appreciated each year and we couldn’t do it without their extra help!  We also thank Roger Corriher who is our Webmaster, working behind the scenes updating our site.
